The District of Columbia has a strong law protecting consumers who have been taken unfair advantage of. The law applies to every kind of consumer/merchant transaction. We represent consumers where there are serious economic harms and especially where the merchant is guilty of a pattern of wrongdoing.
In March 2003, a jury in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia returned a verdict of $4.5 million in actual and punitive damages for six consumers who were the victims of fraudulent mortgage lending practices by First Government Mortgage and Investors Corporation. Lead trial counsel for the consumers was Patrick Malone.
